Robotic arm made in Kufstein

Based on a construction project by students from Kufstein University of Applied Sciences, the prototype of a robot arm was revised and newly manufactured in cooperation with the Tyrolean School of Economics and Technology (TFBS) Kufstein-Rotholz.

Project robot arm

Part of the cooperation included students from the WING and SPS courses as well as 10 vocational students from TFBS Kufstein-Rotholz. The goal of the project was the completion of a robotic arm for use in teaching. In order for the robot to meet the requirements, the precision, mobility and program had to be improved.

For easy and simple operation and the associated use in the classrooms, Franz Hubauer (master student from Smart Products & Solutions) has written a new program with which the students can later learn the basics of robotics in a practical manner. The data, mechanical properties and the mathematical model required for this were developed and made available by the WING students. The students from WING devoted themselves to improving the precision and mobility during the project, and they came up with new suggestions for improvement.

Thanks to the practical experience of the vocational students, many of these suggestions could be implemented quickly. With the machines made available at the vocational school, many parts of the robot were manufactured in-house by the vocational students. By working with the vocational students, the theory came into practice, which gave both sides a new perspective on the problem and mastered the project „hand in hand“.
